The Juice is flowing in…

Submissions for the much anticipated “Juice” slide night are in and as expected the content of the images is as diverse as the presenters themselves.

Amongst the images currently on the Juice picture desk are Jack Tran’s portraits of Agent Orange victims, which capture the faces of a human tragedy.

In stark contrast, Gemma-Rose Turnbull’s essay “Show Us Ya Tits” is a witty and intimate portrayal of women’s relationship with their breasts.

Giulio Saggin and Seanna Cronin have wildlife covered on both land and at sea with some beautiful portrait work by Guilo and underwater photography from Seanna, while Katrin Koenning’s series on family is an unique series of pictures that reveals the grace of everyday family life.

While some late submissions are still on their way, “Juice” is shaping up to be extraordinary evening featuring fascinating images and rare insights provided by some of Queensland’s best photojournalists.

A sample of images from the night will be posted in the coming days so pop back for a sneak preview soon.

Juice session 3

Our next Juice session has been arranged for the Thursday March 26 at 5pm on the Gold Coast.

Once again we will be meeting at the very sticky Parkwood Tavern Beer Garden for a short meeting (1 – 1/2 hours) to discuss the future of the PPC and any upcoming events or planning.

On the agenda for Juice session 3 will be planning and marketing for the “Juice” slide night happening on April 23 at Gold Coast QCA.
The format of our currently as yet undesigned webpage will be hotly debated as will our registration as an incorporated association be under the magnifying glass.
As always we will be thinking big for the future of the PPC and looking for input from all interested parties.

PPC Juice sessions are open events at which anyone is welcome to attend and your contribution is greatly appreciated.

Jump in…the “Juice” is sticky

Here’s the details on how you can get your feet wet in the sweet, sticky nectar of the PPC at our inaugural slide night, “Juice” to be held at Griffith University’s GC Campus Thursday, April 23 from 6pm.

Please provide between 12 and 30 images from a single essay or body of work to the following specs:
JPEG images, 1000 pixels (widest/tallest), saved for web with captions in the file info.

You are also required to submit a brief bio (up to 150 carefully chosen words) in the body of e-mail text.

If your presentation is multi-media, accompanying audio must be sent as separate MP3 or MPEG4 file ONLY.

Please send folder of images in ZIP format.

If you are submitting a pre-formatted Sound Slide, please send the Publish to Web folder as a Zip file.

All submissions must be received for consideration prior to April 1, 2009.

The PPC admin team will confirm your participation in the slide night by reply email within seven days of receiving your images.

The Pineapple Press Club is an independent association committed to the promotion and advancement of photojournalism in Australia.

Through the facilitation of events, exhibitions and professional development opportunities, the Pineapple Press Club is set to become an unstoppable force in the Australian media industry, creating new opportunities for publication and professional development through collegial alliance.

The Pineapple Press Club invites anyone who appreciates, is studying or currently works in the industry to become a friend of our association and contribute to a movement that is destined to make an enduring mark on the Australian media landscape.

By pooling our resources and knowledge we hope to increase the exposure photojournalism receives in the Australian press as well as the quality and quantity of multi-media photojournalism online.

In 2010 the PPC will offer the chance to become a financial member of the association by way of application and folio submission and we hope to create an enduring network of like minded individuals committed to advancing photojournalism in Australia.
